Village Regeneration Programme (VRP)

The CCD in collaboration with People’s organisations and social movements has launched an initiative to face the challenges caused by the destructive war and tsunami to work towards rebuilding people’s lives and securing their place in the fabric of society.

Most of the remote areas which were affected by the armed conflict have not only lost self-sustainability, but also the capacity to receive, distribute and effectively use aid provided by the government, NGOs, international organisations or diaspora donations.

The first phase of the CCD’s Village Regeneration Programme is to bring normalcy and achieve sustainable living conditions to the villages. The initiative will throughout involve villagers and adopt a participatory approach to identify problems, their causes and solutions in designing and implementing the program.

The CCD’s Village Regeneration programme considers the villages as a positive force for good governance. It is about change, in capacity of people, and the enabling environment.
